Choose the cultural stops first

The Villa Romana del Casale is a separate stop from Piazza Armerina’s historic centre. Decide which to visit before adding Caltagirone: a villa visit, both town centres and every museum are not one fixed itinerary.

In Piazza Armerina, Piazza Duomo, the cathedral and Palazzo Trigona provide orientation for a town walk. At Caltagirone, start with the historic centre, the Scala di Santa Maria del Monte and ceramic workshops. Indoor access and opening times must be checked individually.

Option A: more culture, a short tasting

Dedicate the first part of the day to the Villa Romana del Casale and, if time allows, Piazza Armerina’s centre. Travel to Caltagirone for the cultural stops you have selected rather than trying to visit every attraction.

On a weekday, add a confirmed 30 minutes factory tasting at €15.00 per person. Book the session after allowing time for your cultural visits, lunch, driving, parking and arrival. If the villa visit takes longer than expected, reduce the later cultural stops rather than assuming you can arrive late for the tasting.

Option B: fewer stops, a longer aperitivo

Choose the Villa Romana del Casale as the main cultural visit, then a short walk in Caltagirone. Leave out the additional museums and the second town-centre tour if they leave too little time for travel and your booked experience.

Set aside 2 hours for the weekday distillery aperitivo, at €30.00 per person. Each guest chooses an arancino and cannolo to pair with whiskey. The aperitivo is the final booked stop, not a full dinner or a transport-inclusive package.

Plan transport and the return journey

This guide assumes you arrange transport between the villa, town centres and distillery yourself. Sicilian Whiskey provides no transfer. If travelling without a car, establish workable transport and return times before requesting an experience.

Check the day before fixing the itinerary

Factory tasting and aperitivo follow the weekday calendar and require at least 4 hours’ notice. On Saturday and Sunday this same indoor itinerary is not ordinarily available: contact the crew for a feasibility check, without assuming an exception.
